A little bit about housing associations in Wales

Housing associations in Wales provide homes services to around 10% of the Welsh population. We are an independent, not-for-profit social businesses primarily set up with a mission to provide affordable homes for people in need. However, we provide so much more. We invest in communities and change lives by providing care and support for older and vulnerable people, and helping people back into work and initiatives to assist tenants to get online or manage their money better. We are seen as regeneration organisations within our local community and are important partners of national and local government.

Housing associations are also a major employer in Wales. Last year they directly employed 8,400 full time equivalent staff. For every one full time person employed in the sector, one and a half other jobs are supported within the Welsh economy.

We were founded in 2007 following the merger of two south Wales housing associations. Spanning five local authority areas and managing nearly 4,000 homes. You might think all we do is homes but you’re wrong. We are a group of companies that is active across many sectors including the work agenda, energy efficiency and new homes. Regarded as many as one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking organisations in Wales.
